gratuitous produce photos...

after a successful farmers market saturday shop...
i love being able to eat local! i hope that canada figures out a better way to support and sustain itself, food-wise. we need to support our local, organic growers! is it true that less than 2% of crops grown in canada are organic? gah!!!

i love it when i see hearts in my food. paul found one on a potato the other day! i love that he noticed ^_^
and... isn't this the most beautiful teacher apple? i wish i had waited to take a bite until after i decided to take a photo. so perfect! and again, grown here! we are so lucky!!!

hooray for new old juicers and local organic food and translucent lime green grasshoppers on car roofs!

i forgot to mention that while in seattle, i happened to lament that my juicer was burnt out and my friend's brother timo and his wife said i could have their juicer they were planning to sell as they just got a new one! eek!
i did carrots with beet, lettuce, parsley, cucumber, celery and added wheatgrass and spirulina and camu camu.
it's been MONTHS! maybe even 5 months! so many months!
what a glorious night because i can juice again! and now that i have all that pulp, i'm going to make crackers and bread again! YES!
okay and then today... i made a potato salad with potatoes from my friend's garden and basil, parsley and chives from my nannying job family's garden. splash of apple cider vinegar and olive oil with salt and pepper... ah, and i added sliced bits of pickles for extra kid appeal. but mostly, local and organic ingredients! love it!!! potatoes and pickles not raw but hey... works for me!
and just before heading to the farmers market, i saw this amazing grasshopper on a car roof. isn't it amazing and cute? it didn't look real!

korean middle school cafeteria winter-styles day 7

breakfast... *roasted* seaweed again atop some salad... persimmon (YES!!!) with chia cereal. YAH!
i scored an orange yesterday that i saved for lunch. salad with rawmesan on top with dulse and flax crackers i made back home on the side! (crackers were simply soaked flax seed and ground flax, ginger and red onion). my chef friend was concerned that i didn't take any of the white rice. i brought some brown rice but i'm not sure how to go about that. i can't make that in a cup in my room but i also can't see myself asking someone to make it for me. so really not sure why i brought it!!!
there were potatoes tonight at dinner and i couldn't resist. then they came out with french fries. i had maybe 3 though because the last time i remember eating fried food before summer, i was sick all night! oh, also have to say that these oranges were AMAZING.
